Intro to Web Page Design
The <meta> tag provides metadata about the HTML document. Metadeta will not be displayed on the page, but will give information to the browser and search engines.
Meta elements are typically used to specify page description, keywords, author of the document, last modified, and other metadata.
The <meta> tag always goes inside the head element.
The metadata can be used by browsers (how to display content or reload page), search engines (keywords), or other web services.
The meta tag is a self-closing tag. Instead of putting a tag with a slash at the end of the code you just put the greater than sign to close the start tag.
A meta tag is a tag (that is, a coding statement) in the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) that describes some aspect of the contents of a Web page.
